
Senior Aidan Stinebaugh turned in a record-setting performance Sunday to lead the Indian Lake indoor track and field team at a large invitational meet hosted by Tiffin University.
Stinebaugh placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 6½ inches, breaking the school’s indoor record. The previous mark of 40-5 was set by Dustin Franks in 2020. Stinebaugh also finished 11th in the long jump at 18-7¾.
The meet drew 136 schools from across the region, providing a deep and highly competitive field.
Indian Lake’s girls 4×800-meter relay team of Laura Metzger, Kayleigh Taylor, Karsyn Newkirk and Haley Metzger placed fifth overall.
Silas Holbrook posted multiple top-20 finishes, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash (55.82), 17th in the 60 meters (7.52) and 20th in the 200 meters (24.89). Hayes Henry finished 10th in the high jump (5-4) and 19th in the 60-meter hurdles (11.19), while Gavin Henry placed 11th in the hurdles at 9.64.

Kade Richardson finished 12th in the triple jump (35-7) and 24th in the long jump (16-8½). Wyatt Whitsett placed 12th in the high jump, 14th in the triple jump (34-0) and competed in the 60 meters (7.85). Carter Barnett placed 18th in the long jump (18-0) and ran the 200-meter dash.
On the girls side, Laura Metzger finished 19th in the 1,600-meter run (6:23). Piper Warnecke placed 19th in the long jump, 21st in the 200 meters (30.13) and 22nd in the 60 meters (8.85).
Cason Lacher ran the 60 meters (7.72) and placed 29th, and also competed in the 1,600-meter run (5:39). Nathan White ran the 1,600 meters (5:41) and also competed in the 200-meter dash and long jump.

Additional competitors for the Lakers included Cole McClelland and Logan Daniels in the 60-, 200- and 400-meter events; Olivia Albert in the 400 and 200 meters and long jump; Evan Wu in the shot put; Kayleigh Taylor in the 800 and 1,600 meters; and Haley Metzger in the 1,600 meters.
Up next, the Indian Lake Lakers will compete Sunday at Bowling Green State University in their final regular-season indoor meet. Qualifying athletes will advance to the indoor state championship on Saturday, March 7, at the SPIRE Institute.
