The Indian Lake girls set the tone early and rolled to a 42-22 victory.
Courtney Altstaetter had 10 points for Indian Lake, with Kennedy Schwaderer adding nine. Carly Strayer and Mackenzie Dixon chipped in eight apiece.
Indian Lake improves to 4-1 in the CBC and 8-4 overall.
“We rely a lot on our defense and our rebounding,” said Lakers coach Yasmyn Inskeep. “We want to hold everyone under 40. We wanted to make sure (Gregg) didn’t get on rebounds, or any of their girls get going on threes.”
“We want to make sure we apply a lot of pressure and make sure they don’t get any second-chance opportunities.”
Ben Logan drops to 0-6 in the conference and 1-10 overall for the season.
“When teams like Indian Lake need a bucket, they know who to go to,” said Ben Logan coach Greg Saylor. “We’ve got to find a floor leader that will do the things that I need them to do. We’re a young team, so we can’t afford to waste possessions. We’re still searching for that.”
Dixon made two free throws about a minute into the game for the Lakers. Those would be the only points for some time. Altstaetter hit a shot near the midway point of the quarter, and Pequignot made three of four foul shots shortly thereafter.
The Raiders finally broke the ice on a fast break score with Strayer setting up Alivia Kinney. Indian Lake responded with scores by Pequignot and Altstaetter for an 11-2 lead.
Ben Logan got going in the second period with a three-pointer by Lahna Cook and a few foul shots by Adilynne Gregg. They got within five points before Indian Lake reasserted control and pushed the margin to 19-8. A score in the final 30 seconds by Gregg made it nine points at intermission.
Strayer started off the second half scoring for the visitors. After a steal and layup by Ben Logan’s Kaylee Hays, the Lakers hit back with a three by Schwaderer and a drive in the lane by Dixon.
A three from Elliott Butler and a jumper by Joplin Schneider kept Ben Logan within single digits as the third quarter wound down.
The Lakers used trips to the line by Dixon and Schwaderer to boost it back their way. Indian Lake would finish 11 of 13 on free throws for the game.
A putback by Altstaetter and a layup from Strayer in the fourth got the lead up to 36-17. Ben Logan would hit a couple more shots down the stretch, but Indian Lake kept pace. Both coaches sent in the younger players for the final couple of minutes.
Indian Lake next takes on Marion Harding at home on Monday night.
Ben Logan will be off until next Wednesday when they host Bellefontaine.
