Members of the Indian Lake Board of Education reviewed standard operating procedures and approved several items during their regular March meeting, including policy revisions, the annual FFA trip to the state convention and acceptance of multiple donations.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood highlighted the work of the district’s Business Advisory Council, which brings together school administrators and area business leaders to help better prepare students for the workforce.

“Specifically, we just hosted the Career Expo here at Indian Lake High School with 70 or 80 local businesses, so that’s a great event for our students,” Underwood said. “The BAC is also in charge of the Career Speaker Series for our College and Career Readiness students, and they highlight the 3E approach to life after high school.”

Underwood noted the district is anticipating a special guest for an upcoming student recognition event.

“We’re really excited this year as it appears that Senator Jon Husted is going to be at Indian Lake for the 3E Signing Day in May,” he said.

In other business, board members approved the annual trip for Indian Lake FFA students to attend the State FFA Convention in April.

The board also accepted the resignations of Indian Lake High School science teacher Karen Cordova and Indian Lake Middle School special education teacher Randy Page. Both positions will be posted.

Members entered executive session briefly to consider the employment of a public employee or official. No action was taken following the closed-door discussion.

The next regular meeting of the Indian Lake Board of Education is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, at the district office.
