‘Improvising for a Cure’ celebrates 10 years Thursday

The Benjamin Logan Instrumental Music Department hosts its annual benefit concert open to the public Thursday, April 20, to raise funds for the Logan County Cancer Society.

“Improving for a Cure” is celebrating its 10th year during Jazz Appreciation Month.

The event begins with dinner served at 6 p.m. in the Benjamin Logan High School commons, with music by the BLHS Jazz Combo.

The show starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, featuring the high school and middle school jazz ensembles and combos.

Improvising A Cure includes a silent auction of student artwork, a bake sale, 50/50 drawing and barbecue-themed dinner of barbecue pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw etc.

There is no cost to attend this event, but donations are appreciated. All proceeds will be donated to the Logan County Cancer Society.

“Members of the jazz ensemble would love to see you there,” school officials said.“This event is truly one of highlights of the year for our Music Department.

“Please come out to this informal setting for an evening of jazz, food and community.”
