A motorist was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following a Saturday, March 29, traffic stop conducted by deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office in the area of State Route 235 near County Road 13.
Deputies observed a vehicle traveling southbound on S.R. 235 at 77 mph in a 55 mph zone. The driver was identified as Ty Nott of Lewistown, along with passenger Ashtan Allen of Tipp City.
Upon making contact, deputies detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and observed open and closed bottles of Twisted Tea on the floorboard near Allen’s feet. Nott’s eyes reportedly were described as bloodshot.
When asked for his driver’s license, Nott claimed he had dropped it and could not find it, although deputies later saw his wallet on the driver’s seat.
After both Nott and Allen exited the vehicle, deputies conducted a search and found a marijuana grinder in the center console, an open 12-ounce bottle of Corona wedged between the front and rear seats and a six-pack of Corona in the back seat with one bottle missing. Allen handed over an open bottle of Twisted Tea to deputies.
Field sobriety tests were attempted, but were not successful.
Nott was handcuffed and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he provided a urine sample. He was released to a sober driver and issued citations for speeding, OVI, and open container. Allen was issued a summons for open container.
