A suspect was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, for reportedly driving impaired with his teenager in the car, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.

Andrew Kren, 45, of Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to control and endangering children following a traffic stop initiated in the area of Washington Avenue and Hamilton Street.

Police were looking for the suspect after a witness called in and reported the vehicle had traveled off the side of the road, struck a sign and left the scene in the area of 329 Washington Ave. Officers patrolled the area, eventually identified the vehicle Kren was driving and initiated the traffic stop.

Upon making contact with Kren, signs of alcohol impairment were observed. Police reported an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. Contact was also made with Kren’s 16-year-old daughter, who reported her dad had just picked her up from work and they were on the way home.

Field sobriety tests were administered to Kren, but were unsuccessful.

Kren was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
