The very first Laker Zone assembly of the school year focused on increasing respect for all at Indian Lake Elementary.

The Zone Buster led an exercise for the entire student body. All students had thumbs up and thumbs down mini paddles.

The Zone Buster gave scenarios and the kids had to decide whether the situation showed respect (thumb up!) or rude (thumbs down)! They concentrated on being respectful to others, themselves and property.

Then the 1st Quarter Laker Zone winners were announced. They are: pre-K — Parker Kimbler and Charleigh Wilson; kindergarten — Tyrion Olt, Callan Fuerst, Alyssa Reed, Avery Smith, Aria Thompson, Otto Fout and Colten Hughes; first-grade — Liam Hawkins, Cooper Lane, Caydence Wilson, Sealy Stanley, Payton Vasquez and Gavin Gibbons; second-grade — Gage Downing, Garrett Richardson, Logan Stockmaster, Addalee Claybaugh, Harper Moody, Dylan Case and Annabelle Hawkins; third-grade — Hope Rife, Eli Snapp, Finley Taylor, Avery Gietzen, Olivia Castle and LaMichael Seeger; fourth-grade — Vayda Ruth, Mackenzie Best, Aubrey Hoffman, Jase Moon, Melany Simpson, Paisley Howe and Jasmine Hill; Bus — Blake McComas, Aleira Yates, Dalton Penix, Aria Sylvia and Bella and Aubrey Saum.

The ILES PTO sponsored two bicycles given away at the end of the first quarter. They were drawn from the names of boys and girls who achieved perfect attendance for the start of the year. Winners were fourth-grader Kaylee Hurley and second-grader Dylan Case.
