Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 5:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, to a report of a hit-skip crash at county roads 130 and 37.

Deputies report Glenn A. Yearout, 65, of Alger, was operating a southbound Cadillas CTS on C.R. 130.

An unknown driver was operating a westbound vehicle on C.R. 37 and failed to yield to the Cadillac, entering the intersection and making a left turn onto C.R. 130.

Yearout took evasive action to try to avoid the other vehicle, but struck the second vehicle. The unknown driver then leaves the scene of the crash.

Damage was heavy to Yearout’s vehicle, which was towed from the scene. He was wearing his seat belt.

Domestic violence charges filed

Marcus R. Cobb, 41, of 116 W. Lake Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident Saturday, Aug. 5.

Deputies were dispatched about 6:35 a.m. to the storage units along C.R. 130 just outside of Bellefontaine on a report of a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Cobb’s girlfriend, who stated the pair had been in a verbal altercation and she initially claimed there had not been a physical altercation.

She also said that Cobb had thrown her keys into the woods.

Deputies helped to search the area for her keys, but they were not located. They also noticed swelling and bruising to both of her eyes, but she declined medical attention.

The defendant reportedly was located nearby the Marathon gas station at S. Main St. He would not provide deputies with a statement about what had occurred and would only provide partial information about the whereabouts of the car keys. Cobb was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.

• Nicholas J. Beair, 35, of 4192 W. State Route 274, Huntsville, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident Sunday, Aug. 6.

Deputies responded about 12:15 a.m. to his residence on a report of a dispute between two brothers.

When they arrived, deputies said Beair was sweating profusely, his hands were shaky and his eyes were glassy, which were indicators that he was under the influence of methamphetamine. He said that his mother and brother were trying to remove him from the house and that his brother had called a bunch of people to assist in removing him.

Then while speaking to Beair’s brother, deputies learned that the defendant reportedly had been using methamphetamine for the past three days and not going to sleep. His brother also stated that Beair had been paranoid and delusional, and that the defendant also kicked in his bedroom door while he was sleeping. Deputies observed fresh marks on the door frame.

Beair was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
