UPDATE: Suspect identified after guns and drugs seized from traffic stop

Clinton Daines, 33, of Bellefontaine, has been identified as the suspect arrested after firearms and drugs were taken from his vehicle following a traffic stop executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers initiated a traffic stop around 3:38 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, of the 2012 silver Toyota SUV Daines was driving for a window tint violation in the area of the 1600 block of south Main Street.

Upon making contact with Daines, officers learned his license was expired. He was asked to exit the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted.

KY Pyro was deployed and alerted to drugs in the vehicle. Two loaded handguns, a loaded rifle, heroin and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. An additional loaded handgun was also found on the defendant’s person during the stop.

He was charged with possession of heroin and lodged in the Logan County Jail. Additional charges are pending.

Drugs and multiple firearms were recovered Friday, Aug. 9, following a traffic stop executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

The department’s Criminal Patrol Unit, supported by its K9 officer, stopped a vehicle for a window tint violation that led to the discovery of multiple firearms, drugs and other contraband.

K9 Pyro was deployed for a vehicle sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics that prompted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Inside, investigators uncovered two loaded handguns, a loaded rifle, heroin, various pieces of drug paraphernalia, and a plate carrier equipped with rifle plates. Additionally, an extra loaded handgun was found on the male driver himself.

The driver was arrested, and has not yet been identified. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail as the investigation continues.
