Mary Rutan Health has expanded its athletic training services to the Graham Local School District to ensure the health of area high school athletes.

Beginning in December of 2022, students were provided access to a certified athletic trainer employed by Mary Rutan Health. Mary Rutan Health now serves as the official sports medicine provider to the Graham School District through a five-year contract at no cost to the school district.

Mary Rutan Health’s certified athletic trainer provides game and practice coverage and is on-site to provide immediate attention when a student-athlete is injured. The trainer provides an initial injury assessment and first aid, establishes rehabilitation programs for injured athletes, applies protective taping, and counsels athletes in areas such as nutrition and conditioning.

In addition to free assessments and treatment by the athletic trainer, Mary Rutan Health’s sports medicine partnership with schools involves professionals from Mary Rutan Therapy & Sports Medicine and Mary Rutan Orthopedics. The athletic trainers work directly with Mary Rutan sports medicine providers beginning from the moment of an injury through coordination of care and a successful return to activities.

Working with student-athletes, their families, and coaches, Mary Rutan’s team of professionals provides consistent and efficient treatment, triage, and prevention of sports injuries. Proper training is key to the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes.

In addition to Mary Rutan Health providing athletic training services, Mary Rutan Foundation has committed further to support Graham Local School District with a $10,000 donation. This donation will go towards purchasing athletic training equipment to enhance the district’s training facility further.

“Not only will this equipment help student-athletes develop the strength, power, speed, agility and coordination that they need to be successful in their sport, but it is also an investment in the safety of each student-athlete to aid in building a foundation of strength and stability to prevent sports injuries,” said Tammy Allison, COO of Mary Rutan Foundation.

“We appreciate Mary Rutan Health for their commitment to putting this new partnership together,” said Chad Lensman, Graham Local School District superintendent. “Since we began communication regarding this opportunity, we’ve been impressed with the level of interest and involvement by all members of the Mary Rutan Health team. We are excited about the quality services to be provided by Mary Rutan Health to our student-athletes and their clear interest in the Graham community overall.”

“The professionals at Mary Rutan Health are excited about the opportunity to provide outstanding athletic training services for our area schools,” said Chad Ross, President and CEO of Mary Rutan Health. The expansion of athletic training services to Graham Schools is yet another example of our commitment to the wellness and safety of our area’s student-athletes and the communities we serve.”

In addition to Graham, partner schools include Urbana, Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Calvary Christian, Indian Lake, Riverside and Upper Scioto Valley. This is an annual financial investment by Mary Rutan Health of approximately $500,000 in services to area schools.
