COLUMBUS — The Ohio Hospital Association has announced the honorees of its annual leadership awards to be honored at the annual OHA Recognition Dinner during the association’s annual meeting June 12-14 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton.
Among the honorees is Mandy Goble of Bellefontaine, Mary Rutan Health retired president and CEO, who will receive OHA’s James R. Castle Distinguished Service Award.
This recognition honors an individual whose professional attainments embody qualities of an outstanding leader or mentor for service to the health care community.
This award is named for OHA’s president and CEO for 23 years, from 1989 through 2011.
“Ohio hospitals are cornerstones of the communities they serve, providing high quality compassionate care delivered by more than 430,000 employees,” said Mike Abrams, OHA president and CEO. “The leadership and community contributions of the honorees and nominees for our statewide awards are truly exemplary. We are honored to celebrate their important accomplishments and service in health care.”
Goble retired as president of Mary Rutan Hospital in 2021. Her career with the hospital included 32 years, including more than 17 years as president and CEO.
Before serving as CEO, Goble served as executive vice president from 2001 to 2004 and vice president of operations from 1989 to 2004. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
OHA officials said Goble’s dedication to the Bellefontaine community and Mary Rutan Health has been evident in her drive to expand the level of services and maintain the organization’s financial strength, strategically positioning Mary Rutan Health to remain independent.
During her tenure, Goble brought increased health care services to the community through expanded and new service lines, building projects and community programming outreach.
The new Goble Center for Women & Children at Mary Rutan (named in honor of Goble) opened last year. The new center will provide the women and children of the community with a dedicated place to receive the care they need to live long and healthy lives, impacting the well-being of the community for generations.
Goble received her bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree in marketing management from Marshall University. She also completed the executive program in health care management at Ohio State University.
She has achieved Diplomate status in the American Academy of Medical Administrators and served as the organization’s regional director. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is involved in numerous community organizations. The award recipient was an active member of OHA, serving on the Small and Rural Committee, the PAC Board and OHA Board of Trustees.
This year’s fellow hospital leadership award honorees are:
• Bruce White (Mt. Vernon), CEO, Knox Community Hospital, will receive OHA’s Donald R. Newkirk Award. The award is named for Don Newkirk who led OHA for 27 years and recognizes an individual who has made a significant lifetime contribution to the health care profession in Ohio.
• Ohio Business Roundtable) will receive OHA’s Dr. Eli Crew Community Service Excellence Award. This award recognizes an individual’s or organization’s support of the health care industry.
Also at the OHA Recognition Dinner, the winner of the OHA’s Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award Health Care Worker of the Year Award also will be honored, from 57 nominees. Each year OHA invites member hospitals and health systems to nominate one outstanding professional for consideration for this award.
