Gloria Jean Groves, age 77, of Marysville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by her family at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
Known as very loving and nurturing, Gloria cared for others and deeply treasured all her family and friends. She served as a hospital nurse’s aide and for private in-home care. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, being a camper host at Indian Lake State Park, traveling (especially cruises), playing euchre, shopping, and watching the Hallmark channel and Ohio State Buckeye football games.
Gloria was born October 5, 1945, in Columbus, to the late George Wilson and Susan Marie (Williamson) Miller. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Frankie Miller, Orville Miller, Richard Miller, George Miller, Charles Miller, Clifford Miller, Harold Miller and Franklin Miller; four sisters, Helen Miller Bollack, Evy Miller Stires, Alice Miller Potochina and Lola Miller DeVito; her granddaughter, Ashley Campbell; and her great-grandson, Ciaran Rea.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter I. Groves, whom she married on April 1, 1962, in Marysville. Their marriage began in London, England where Walter was stationed in the United States Air Force.
Gloria is also survived by four children, Kimberly S. Rea of Marysville, Brian A. (Gretchen) Groves of Marysville, Christine L. Cheney of Marysville, and Julie M. (Jeff) Gamble of Bellefontaine; eleven grandchildren, Douglas Rose, Christopher (Kerry) Rea, Aaron (Tristen) Rea, Tyler (Paige) Rea, Hunter Groves, Skyler Groves, Laken Groves, Joshua Campbell, Jovie Cheney, Colton Clapp, and Cody (Shelby) Clapp; seven great-grandchildren, Bella Rose, Gunnar Rose, Finnian Rea, Greyson Rea, Dawson Rea, Carter Clapp, and Cayden Clapp; four brothers, Donald Miller, Edwin E. Miller, Russell G. Miller, and Gerald W. Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
