Gerald “Jerry” R. Brautigam, 86, of Quincy passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 4:25 p.m. at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.
He was born on August 20, 1936 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of the late William and Lydia (Allinger) Brautigam. On November 6, 1955, Jerry married the former Ruth Ann Thompson, who preceded him in death April 4, 2013.
He is survived by four children, Steve (Linda) Brautigam of Quincy, Lu Ann (Scott) Fultz of Sidney, Jo Ann (Jim) Bodenmiller of Springfield and Janice (Jeff) Davidson of Sidney; eleven grandchildren, Mary Brautigam, Michelle (Matt) Hull, Matt Brautigam, Kayla Fultz, Kelsey (Nathan) Bowers, Jarrod (Tiffany) Fultz, Bradley (Alex) Bodenmiller, Dustin (Scott) Bodenmiller, Brooke (Justin) Adkins, Regan and Lucas Davidson; nine great-grandchildren, Peyton, Garrett and Aiden Hull, Kensington, Emmett and Boden Adkins, Elliott and Teddy Bowers and Kingston; brother, Norman Dale (Inez) Brautigam of Monroe, NC and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Roger (Helen) Brautigam.
Jerry graduated from Fairlawn High School and started working right after graduation at the former Sidney Aluminum pouring aluminum molds. 48 years later he retired from Reliable Castings at the age of 65, spending his entire career at the same building. The last part of his career was spent working in the office quoting jobs and proofing drawings. He was a member of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Anna.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco, Ohio. Friends may visit Wednesday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Miami County in Jerry’s memory.
