George T. Raney Sr., 85, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 2:07 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Kobacker House. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 11, 1937, to the late Edward and Lucille (Turpin) Raney. On September 19, 1958, he married Deidre Mills, and she survives.
He is also survived by five children: Deborah (Keith) Woodly of Columbus, George T. Raney Jr. of Los Angeles, Brett Raney of Bellefontaine, Kim Raney of Dublin, and Kip Raney of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren: Danielle (Mike) Ciofani, Andrea (Ben) Hinde, Gabrielle Ciofani, Weston Woodly, Mason (Haley) Prickett, Logan Raney, Brenn Woodly and Shelby Raney; eight great-grandchildren: Lucibella, Sophiana, Solstice, Jasper, Michelangelo, Eleanor, Jack, and Deidre; a sister, Rosalind Garland and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Two brothers, Edward and Robert L. Raney preceded him in death.
George loved the beach and spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking and building model trains.
Pastor Ron Irick will officiate a funeral service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Sunday, April 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
