Gale Milton Franklin

201

Gale Milton Franklin, 91, passed to his eternal home on March 5, 2025. He was at peace, at home on the family legacy farm and with his loved ones by his side.

Gale was born on May 23, 1933, along with his twin brother Dale, to Bernard and Marjorie (St John) Franklin who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Wish Franklin; his nieces, Mindy Franklin Boeck (Tim), and Missy Franklin, Samatha Boeck (Jake Kissel), and daughter Christina Franklin, brother and sister in laws Sue Caro, Jim and Susan Wish, Joy and Steve Climer, Jeanne and Gail Gildow. Joni Galarneau and Joe Wish also preceded him in death. Gale also had many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Gale and Dale graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951. They farmed together all their lives and established the Franklin Family Century farm which was first farmed by their grandfather in 1914.

Gale was known as a fair and honest man. He was a man of respect and integrity who cherished his legacy of Christianity and stewardship. He played and officiated sports, was invited to try out for the St Louis Browns franchise, raised and raced Standardbred horses and was a mentor to many. Gale’s 90th birthday celebration was well attended by his neighbors, family and friends. A highlight was a visit by Governor DeWine to pay his respects.

The family wants to thank Deb Adams and Terri Mt Pleasant for their loving and respectful care of Gale. The support that neighbors, friends and family have given Gale and Sharon cannot be measured. Thanks to all of you.

Gale was in the care of Crossroads Hospice for only a week. We thank you for being there every step of the way, making it possible for him to be at peace, and at home.

Services will be held at Jamestown Church of Christ, where Gale was a member, with Steve Rich officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. with services immediately following. Burial will be in the Silvercreek Township Cemetery, Jamestown.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jamestown Church of Christ, 152 W Washington St, Jamestown OH 45335, or the Christian Harness Horseman’s Assn., 157 N Main St., Salem NH 03079.
