With fall plans in full swing, October at the Holland Theatre will include a fall fundraiser featuring local music and a live auction, a bluegrass legend and a free Halloween movie.
The Holland’s annual fall fundraiser is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. Local musicians Tom Boone, Bill Purk, and Band of Ravens perform during this fun afternoon.
Festivities also include live and silent auctions, snacks and a cash bar. Community members can bid on Ohio State football tickets, Broadway show memorabilia, gift items from local businesses and much more, with Mick Lile serving as auctioneer.
Bluegrass giant Missy Raines and her touring band Allegheny take the stage Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. The singer-songwriter/bassist and her band are known for soulful harmonies and heart-pounding instrumentals.

Throughout her storied career, Raines has garnered some of the biggest accolades in the music industry, including 14 International Bluegrass Music Association honors, with 10 being awarded for Bass Player of the Year. Raines’ Royal Traveller was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2020. This event is sponsored by Jason and Ann Vogel.
Closing out the month will be a free showing of the terrifying classic Carrie on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.

In this adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel, withdrawn and sensitive teen Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) faces taunting from classmates at school and abuse from her fanatically pious mother (Piper Laurie) at home. When strange occurrences start happening around Carrie, she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers. The movie is rated R.
This season’s sponsor is Beasley Architecture & Design, with media sponsorship from the Bellefontaine Examiner and V-Teck Communication, and season support from the Ohio Arts Council.
