West Liberty-Salem 42, Fairbanks 0
West Liberty-Salem got a dominant win on Friday, shutting out visiting Fairbanks 42-0 for a Homecoming victory in Ohio Heritage Conference football.
The Tigers scored three times in the second, and once in each of the other periods.
Corbin Wallace had a 1-yard run with 9 1/2 minutes to go in the first period.
In the second quarter, Beckett Sullivan threw three touchdown passes. The first was to Carson Poppe for six yards with 8:30 to go, the second was for 30 yards to Wallace at 5:36, and the last was a 60-yarder to Isaac Sertell with just over a minute left.
Sullivan tossed touchdown number four for 46 yards to Reese oder with just over two minutes gone by in the third quarter.
With the rest of the game played under a running clock, the Tigers’ final score came on a 4-yard run by Zade Bieleski with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the fourth.
Sullivan completed 10 of his 13 attempts for 218 yards. Three catches were to Sertell for 107 yards, and four went to Oder for 73.
The ground game was split between Silas Krabill (10 runs for 52) and Wallace (14 runs for 44).
The Tigers outgained Fairbanks 363 to 111 on the night.
Carson Shope of the Panthers ran 11 times for 43 yards. Bryson Griffith was 5 of 13 for 18 yards passing.
West Liberty-Salem (1-0 OHC, 4-2 overall) plays at Northeastern next Friday.
Riverside 21, Bethel 16
Riverside made it three wins for the three area teams celebrating Homecoming on Friday, as they held off Bethel 21-16 in Three Rivers Conference football.
The Pirates got the first score of the game on a 1-yard run by Tony Robinson with 10:16 to play, and Camden Shoe’s PAT made it 7-0.
Bethel answered with a 31-yard field goal with 6:40 to play, making it 7-3 at the half.
Gunner Carpenter had a 4-yard run with 6:18 to go in the third. The Pirates went for two, but did not get it.
The Bees then had a big 86-yard run by Lucas Truman and the PAT was good, making it 14-10.
It took Riverside just under two minutes to respond, with Robinson going in from the 9-yard line with 3:08 to play. Brody Orsborne ran it in for the conversion, and giving the hosts a double-digit lead at 21-10.
The Bees got a 3-yard run by Truman with nine minutes left. The conversion failed and the Pirates held on from there.
Riverside coach Bryce Hodge said, “I’m excited for the kids. We got better blocking up front and ran the ball like we wanted to. We did it more efficiently.”
He noted that while they allowed some big plays, “we got stops when we need. I’m proud of the guys and how they responded.”
Carpenter had 17 carries for 107 yards, Robinson had 18 for 92 and Dylan Trimble ran seven times for 17 yards.
Orsborne completed two passes, both to Carston Bell, for 20 yards.
Riverside is now 2-1 in the TRC and 3-3 overall. They will host Northridge next week.
Indian Lake 17, North Union 14
RICHWOOD — Indian Lake used a fourth-quarter score to get a 17-14 win over host North Union in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River football on Friday.
Each team scored a touchdown in the first, with the Lakers adding a field goal in the second for a 10-7 halftime lead.
The Wildcats took the lead with a score in the third, then the Lakers got what proved to be the winner on a run by Noah Shirk early in the fourth.
Brady Golliday completed 12 of 19 passes for 100 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He also ran 18 times for 90 yards.
Noah Shirk carried it 21 times for 148 yards, and scored once.
Colin Bendler had six catches for 59 yards, and Brodey Reisinger had five grabs for 35.
Nickolas Hajjar threw a 44-yard touchdown to Dainon Lindsey with 7:52 to go in the first period to take the initial lead.
Golliday connected with Bendler on a 34-yard pass with 2:39 left, and Pequignot hit the PAT to tie it.
The only points of the second came from Pequignot, with a 35-yard field goal with 5:42 to go.
North Union seized the lead with 2:53 left in the third on a 29-yard run by Griffin Osborne and PAT by Greyson Bledsoe.
The Lakers then drove and Shirk scored on a 12-yard run with 10:46 left. Pequignot hit the point after, with the defense making it stand up from that point.
Indian Lake (1-0 CBC, 4-2 overall) will host Shawnee next Friday, which is also Homecoming.
Graham 26, Ben Logan 21
ST. PARIS — Benjamin Logan lost to Graham on the road in CBC Mad River division play on Friday.
Graham got the first score of the game in the opening quarter.
The Raiders tied it in the second quarter, then Graham answered to go ahead 14-7.
Ben Logan scored again to make it 14-all at the half.
Graham scored but did not get the conversion in the third quarter.
Ben Logan got a touchdown and PAT to lead 21-20, but the Falcons were able to score one more time to pull out the win.
“We made too many mistakes in the first half,” said Coach Paul Jenne. “We had our chances and didn’t take advantage of it.”
Wyatt Predmore completed 2 of 3 passes for 25 yards. Adam Tinsman came in after Predmore was injured and threw for 82 yards, completing eight of his nine throws.
Predmore ran 17 times for 23 yards, and Tinsman 18 for 29.
Alex Hassell had four carries for 22 yards rushing and three catches for 28 yards, scoring all three touchdowns for the Raiders.
Diesel Baughman carried it 16 times for 94 yards, and Jordan Pender had three runs for 14 yards.
Andrew Frederick, Brandon Heater and Cayden Brown had two catches apiece.
Ben Logan (0-1 CBC, 3-3 overall) will celebrate Homecoming next Friday as they take on North Union.
