Floris G. “Flo” Stanley, 80, of Marysville and former longtime resident of West Mansfield, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Walnut Crossing of Marysville following several years of failing health.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she worked as a sales clerk with J.C. Penney. Flo had a deep love of animals, especially her dog, Sammy and cat, Bunnie. She attended the West Mansfield Church of Christ, loved traveling with her husband, Tom, in the RV and also enjoyed sewing.
Born February 4, 1943 in West Mansfield, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Vera (Bailey) Meddles. On August 13, 1960 she married her husband of just over 52 years, Thomas G. Stanley and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2012. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Stanley; and a sister, Pat Moore.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamara (Tony) Dowell of Zanesfield; a grandson, Adam (Karen) Dowell of Zanesfield; great grandchildren, Ethan, Avery and Briar; sister, Dixie Alexander of Melbourne, FL; and a sister-in-law, Barb (Chris) Proicou of Columbus; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Flo will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield. Dr. Jason Robson will officiate and burial will take place with her husband and daughter at the East Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday beginning at noon.
