The Belle Center Fireworks Committee donated $4,000 to sponsor a dog kennel at the new Logan County Animal Shelter during a check presentation Thursday, June 26, at the Richland Township Fire Department/BMRT Rescue Squad to Logan County Dog Warden Jake Boyd. With the donation, the committee and other dog kennel sponsors will be featured on a plaque by the kennel for the life of the animal shelter, which is currently under construction by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, 284 S. County Road 32, Bellefontaine. The animal shelter is expected to be completed later this year. Deputy Boyd is currently fundraising for the 23 dog kennels and other essential supplies to outfit the shelter, with the goal of raising $200,000. As of June 26, he said approximately $50,000 has been raised thus far and the Belle Center Fireworks Committee is the fourth dog kennel sponsorship he has received. All donations given to the shelter are tax-deductible through the Logan County Sheriff’s Office Behind the Badge Volunteers, Inc., a 501c3 charitable organization. An upcoming animal shelter fundraiser, the Dawg Dayz of Summer,” also is planned for July 19 at the Indian Lake Brewing Company, 184 W. Main St., Russells Point.
