Randall Lourance Jr., 39, was charged with resisting arrest and a felony count of domestic violence following an incident Monday evening, March 31.

Officers of the Russells Point Police Department were dispatched about 8:30 p.m. to the 400 block of Buckeye Drive in reference to a domestic dispute.

Dispatchers had received a call about two men actively involved in a fight inside a home.

When officers arrived, they found the victim in the middle of the road attempting to defend himself against Lourance Jr., who was acting aggressively towards the victim and then turned his attention to the officers.

Officers quickly learned Lourance tackled the victim to the ground and began striking him in the face and causing injuries to the victim’s face and hands. When officers tried to speak to Lourance, he reportedly became combative and told officers they would need to shoot him before he would go to jail.

Officers worked to de-escalate the situation and were able to temporarily detain Lourance until officers could investigate further.

Once it was confirmed Lourance was the primary aggressor, officers attempted to place him under arrest. He resisted and tried to pull away from officers, which lead to him being placed on the ground. He continued to resist by tucking his hands underneath his body.

Officers were eventually able to pull his hands free and place him in custody. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
