“Take it to the kitchen and choose health” was the topic of discussion of the most recent Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club meeting.
Students were divided into four stations to learn about several different topics with guest presenters.
Amy Keller, a dietician from Mary Rutan Hospital, explained the importance of protein in our daily diet through a creative bingo game.
Lois Stoll engaged the kids in the kitchen by creating their own “protein bowl.” Club members browned ground beef, made their own sauce and cooked 90-second rice.
The recipe was simple and the students could take it home, surprising their families by cooking dinner one night.
The club members also learning how to create a healthy snack with almonds, jerky, cranberries and other healthy ingredients, with the idea that snacks can be fun and healthy.
