Elaine S. Cook, 80, of Kenton, died at 6:33 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born on August 6, 1944, in Kenton to the late Bernard and Opal (Kurt) Sponsler. She married the love of her life, Frank “Skip” Cook on December 29, 2001, and they enjoyed 20 wonderful years together, until his passing on July 9, 2021.

Elaine is survived by her brother, Duane (Sharol) Sponsler of Seneca, SC; nephews: Jeff (Kathy) Sponsler of Marietta, GA and Michael (Shannon) Sponsler of Denver, CO; 2 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews; her beloved friends: Barb, Carol, Kay, Elaine and her caretaker, Jackie.

Elaine retired as a Financial Analyst from Arvin-Meritor in Kenton after 37 years.  She was a member of the Order the Eastern Star, Helen Mabrey Shoe Fund, Business Professional Women’s group, Soroptimist International, and was the former Treasurer for Central Nickel Age Tour Group. She and Skip enjoyed touring the United States and Canada, and spending their winters in Ft. Myers, FL.

A funeral service will be at noon Friday, January 24, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, Kenton, where visitation will be held 2 hours (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.) prior to the service. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Kenton.
