Drugs were recovered and two people were arrested following a Friday, Dec. 20, traffic stop conducted by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
At approximately 9:37 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Acura sedan at 621 Henry Street after discovering its license plate did not match the registered vehicle. The driver, Justin Stidam, admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license. During the stop, officers observed suspicious behavior from a backseat passenger, Polly McClain Board, 39, of Bellefontaine.
Board, who was carrying a backpack, became verbally resistant during a pat-down and attempted to walk away with the bag after officers discovered a digital scale with white residue in her possession. Upon securing the bag, officers found 5.5 grams of methamphetamine inside.
The front-seat passenger, Thomas Whitehead, 40, of West Liberty, was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed no additional illegal items.
Board was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Whitehead was transported to the Logan County Jail on the warrant. Stidam was issued a citation and released from the scene.
