Two people were arrested late Sunday night after deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on State Route 47 near State Route 235.

Around 11:38 p.m., deputies pulled over a gray sedan traveling eastbound after observing the vehicle cross the center line. The driver, David Baker, along with passengers Thomas Whitehead, 40, and Joplyn Blosser, 22, were identified.

Deputies noted suspicious behavior from the vehicle’s occupants, prompting a K9 unit to conduct an open-air sniff. The K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics near the rear passenger door.

During a search, Blosser was found with a small bag of methamphetamine concealed in her pants. Further searches revealed she had hidden a glass pipe and syringes inside her body cavity. Additional methamphetamine was also found in a plastic wrap discarded on the ground.

Blosser was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances, a fifth-degree felony; tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; and possession of drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Whitehead, who admitted to using drugs earlier in the day, was found to be on probation. His probation officer requested a holder be placed on him, resulting in his arrest for a probation violation.

The driver, Baker, and another passenger, Matthew Murphy, were released from the scene without charges.

Both Blosser and Whitehead were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
