2 seriously injured in U.S. 68 crash

Both drivers sustained serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, near the intersection of U.S. Route 68 and County Road 37.

Braden Jenkins, 18, of Quincy, and Wendy Rodenberger, 51, of Kenton, each was transported by Careflight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Troopers report Jenkins was northbound on U.S. Route 68 when he reportedly swerved to miss a deer that had crossed into the roadway. The 2018 Civic Jenkins was driving then traveled into the southbound lane and into the path of a 2021 Nissan Murano operated by Rodenberger.

The vehicle Jenkins was driving struck both the deer and the vehicle operated by Rodenberger.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by CareFlight, Bellefontaine Fire and EMS, Huntsville Fire and EMS, Ace’s Towing, and Dad’s Towing.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
