Driver transported from C.R. 130 crash

Taylor N. Huffman, 29, of Lakeview, was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 3.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Huffman was operating a northbound 2018 GMC Terrain on County Road 130 about 5:10 p.m. when she struck the rear of a northbound 2009 Acura RDX operated by Brenda K. Hitzeman, 61, of Lakeview, that stopped to turn into a driveway at 4444 C.R. 130.

Hitzeman did not report any injuries. Huffman was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.

• Drivers Eduardo Rodriguez, 19, of Lima, and Brandon L. Villa, 21, of Wapakoneta, each were transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Deputies report Rodriguez was operating an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet van about 5:55 p.m. on County Road 52 and failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road 23. His vehicle struck a northbound 2006 Honda Accord operated by Villa.

The van then went off the northeast side of the intersection into a cornfield, and the car went off the northwest side of the intersection, striking a utility pole. Damage was heavy to both vehicles.

Rodriguez was cited for a stop sign violation. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

• Benjamin J. Carey, 19, of DeGraff, was transported by Macochee EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash about 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1.

Deputies report he was operating a northeastbound 1985 Ford F-150 on County Road 18 near Township Road 32 when he traveled off the right side of the road, coming to rest in a bean field.

Damage was light to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing his seat belt, and no citations were listed with the crash report.

• Andrew C. Beair, 19, of Huntsville, was cited for a stop sign violation related to a non-injury crash Wednesday.

Deputies report he was operating a westbound 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 pulling a trailer on County Road 47 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road 1. His vehicle

was struck by a northbound 2010 Honda Accord operated by David F. Myers, 65, of Bellefontaine.

Damage was moderate to the car and light to the pickup. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Man lodged for domestic violence

Michael A. Woodruff, 41, of 180 S. Main St., West Mansfield, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident Saturday, Sept. 30, at his residence.

Deputies responded to his address about 8:55 p.m. on a complaint from Woodruff’s ex-wife, who said that he was heavily intoxicated and was fighting her and his mother.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with his ex-wife, who said the defendant began yelling at her when she was walking to their house with their child, and that he attempted to punch her in the face, but missed. She stated she hit him in the face to protect herself and then walked inside with their child.

Inside the home, Woodruff reportedly went after his ex-wife, and then his mother began yelling at him to stop. He reportedly tried to push his mother, but then he fell to the ground.

Deputies observed that the defendant displayed signs of intoxication. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
