Christine Gonzalez, 45, of Lakeview, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, April 15.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a southbound 2014 Acura TL on State Route 235 about 12:30 p.m. when she failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Michelle L. Oakley, 62, of Lakeview, that had stopped in traffic.

Oakley’s vehicle then struck the rear of a southbound 2021 Subaru Crosstrek operated by Gloria J. Craig, 60, of Lakeview, that stopped to turn left onto Elm Street.

Damage was heavy to the first two vehicles, which were towed from the scene, and light to the Craig vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

Deputies also responded to the Mary Rutan Hospital emergency department to speak with Gonzalez after finding an open can of alcoholic beverage in her vehicle. Inside the vehicle, deputies noted that the liquid had spilled and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

Gonzalez told deputies she had purchased the alcohol just prior to the crash at a gas station up the street on S.R. 235. She stated that she had taken one or two sips of the alcoholic beverage and acknowledged that she knew it was illegal to have an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. She consented to field sobriety tests and deputies did not find any signs of impairment.

Gonzalez was issued a summons for an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

• Debora A. Moore, 59, of Hamden, was transported by Tri-Valley EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Sunday, April 16.

Deputies report she was operating a northbound 2013 Toyota Rav 4 on County Road 55 about 2:20 p.m. and attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 10.

She turned into the path of a westbound 2018 Honda Pilot operated by Jennifer L. Jenkins, 47, of Bellefontaine.

Jenkins did not report any injuries. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Moore was cited for right of way at an intersection.
