A Kenton woman died Thursday, Dec. 7, following serious injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Nov. 29 on U.S. 68 near County Road 37.
Wendy Rodenberger, 51, passed away at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, her family reports in her obituary. She served as the Mary Rutan Hospital chief nursing officer and vice president of patient services.
She and the driver of the second vehicle, Braden Jenkins, 18, of Quincy, each were transported by CareFlight helicopter to the Dayton hospital following the crash at 7:15 a.m., troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol previously reported.
Jenkins remains hospitalized at the Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. Sunday evening, Dec. 10, the West Liberty First Church of God worship team offered a Night of Hope at the hospital chapel to offer prayers and encouragement for Jenkins and his family and Rodenberger’s family and friends.
Troopers previously reported Jenkins was operating a northbound 2018 Honda Civic on U.S. 68 when he reportedly swerved to miss a deer that had crossed into the roadway. Jenkins’ car then traveled into the southbound lane and into the path of a 2021 Nissan Murano operated by Rodenberger.
The vehicle Jenkins was driving struck both the deer and the vehicle operated by Rodenberger.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by CareFlight, Bellefontaine Fire and EMS, Huntsville Fire and EMS, Ace’s Towing, and Dad’s Towing.
This is the eighth fatal crash in Logan County this year.
