Driver, passenger arrested following traffic stop

Drugs were recovered and a driver and passenger each were arrested following a Nov. 20 traffic stop executed by officers of the Washington Township Police Department in the area of Township Road 239 near U.S. Route 33.

At approximately 10:36 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for expired registration and equipment violations. The driver, Christopher Lunsford, 44, of Milford, and passenger, Lori Cook, 60, of Owensville, were identified during the stop.

While interacting with the occupants, officers observed signs of drug use and requested K9 Hondo to assist. K9 Hondo alerted to the presence of illegal substances inside the vehicle, prompting a probable cause search. Officers recovered crack cocaine, Clonazepam (a Schedule IV controlled substance) and drug paraphernalia.

Both Lunsford and Cook were arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail. Cook faces charges of possession of drugs (crack cocaine), possession of drugs (Schedule IV), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lunsford was charged with possession of drugs (crack cocaine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
