Jordan Stiles, 20, of West Mansfield, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and child endangerment following a traffic stop initiated around 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 26, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department near Southview Park, 601 W. Lake Ave.
Officers on patrol observed a vehicle idling with its lights on in the rear of the park and began investigating. As they approached, the car began to pull away. Police turned around and followed the vehicle to the exit of the park and initiated a traffic stop.
Upon making contact with the driver, Stiles, an odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle. Several passengers were inside, including a 14-year-old adolescent.
A search of the vehicle revealed marijauna residue, and Stiles admitted to having recently smoked marijuana. The vehicle and passengers were released from the scene, and Stiles was transported to the police department and administered a field sobriety test, which was unsuccessful.
Stiles was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and child endangering and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
