Duane George, 63, of Bellefontaine, charged with drunk driving following a traffic stop executed around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Officers on patrol in the area of east Auburn Avenue observed an SUV driven by the defendant weaving within its lane of travel. As police followed the SUV, multiple additional marked lanes violations were observed as the SUV turned onto Ludlow Road.
A traffic stop was initiated and upon making contact with George, a strong odor of alcohol was observed from his person. He was also lethargic and unsteady on his feet, police report.
Field sobriety tests were unsuccessful. George declined to provide a breath sample to officers. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, as well as the marked lanes violations and was released to a sober driver.
