Zakk Caudill, 28, of Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as well as a number of traffic violations around 12:25 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 3.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol in the area of the 200 block of south Main Street observed the defendant operating his vehicle northbound on Main Street without a license plate light. Police observed the vehicle make a wide right turn onto east Chillicothe Avenue and cross over the centerline multiple times.
A traffic stop was initiated near an alleyway on Newell Street as officers continued to observe the vehicle fail to maintain its lane or properly stop at a stop sign.
Upon making contact with Caudill, officers reported signs of impairment, and he admitted to having consumed at least one mixed drink and several beers during the evening.
He was transported back to the police department and consented to a breath test, that returned a level of 0.255.
He was charged with OVI, issued traffic citations and released to a sober driver.
