Donna L. Barton, 91, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away on February 22, 2023, at her residence.
She was born in Logan County, Ohio on December 30, 1931, the daughter of the late Donovan P. and Gladys (Williams) Short.
On June 19, 1949, she married Kress Barton, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2022. She is also preceded in death by a son, Greg Barton, a grandson, Jonathan Barton, four sisters, and an infant brother.
She is also survived by children: Jane (Steve) Arbogast and Kress (Cindy) Barton; grandchildren: Jason, Nathan, Allison, Maribeth, Katie, Christopher, Kress, Andrew, David, Matthew, and Daniel; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Donna worked as a secretary, working for A.J. Miller Company, Sloan Insurance, and later with her husband at Barton Insurance. She was a member of the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church and was a part of the Women’s Circle. She taught Sunday School for more than 40 years and helped with church meals for many years. She was always dedicated to her church, family and friends, whether it be family dinners and holidays, or playing in Bridge Club with her husband and friends.
Pastor Joe Ziraldo will officiate a funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church, 201 N Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
