“We never turn anyone away,” stated Soteria House Program Manager Debbie Brownlee during the 2022 annual Domestic Violence Awareness Ceremony, which was held at the Bellefontaine Courthouse on Friday, October 14. One of the reasons she can make that statement resides in the lives and hearts of the many volunteers, law enforcement agencies and churches that support them. The ceremony served to recognize that support. (EXAMINER FILE PHOTO | SHARYN KOPF)

The annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the new Lutheran Community Services facility, 820 W. Sandusky Ave., Bellefontaine.

This year, the ceremony focuses on presenting the “Rest of the Story” about what it takes for our community to help survivors move on with their lives and start afresh.

“It literally takes a village and Logan County rises to the occasion. We couldn’t do it with out them. We want to honor all the people who make a difference in the lives of survivors after they are safe but are struggling to start anew with a violence-free life,” said Deb Brownlee, TCN Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Center Soteria manager.

“We are hoping to have representatives from many different groups come and be recognized for their contributions.”
