John Reid, 37, of Belle Center, was charged with a felony count of domestic violence related to an incident Thursday evening, Nov. 20.
Deputies were dispatched to his address about 6:50 p.m. on a domestic violence call, and first spoke with Reid, who was sitting outside, when they arrived.
Reid said there had been a verbal argument between he and his live-in girlfriend that day, and that she had followed him out to his truck when he tried to remove himself from the house to sit out there.
Reid told deputies that his girlfriend wouldn’t leave him alone, after he had asked her to “go away. He said he pulled her out of the truck when she refused to leave. He said he didn’t injure her during this encounter.
Deputies spoke with his girlfriend, whom they said was visibly shaking and crying. They noted she had a scratch on her arm and a minor reddening to her wrist area.
The girlfriend said Reid had been cursing at her all day and during the encounter in the truck, she said he grabbed ahold of her right arm and her wrist and pulled her out of the truck, which she said caused her pain and a “popping” sound in her arm.
She said Reid later re-entered the house and began packing his belongings. He then allegedly tried to grab her phone from her hand while she was holding an infant in her other arm. While trying to get away from him, she stated her arm and the phone struck the child.
Reid was placed under arrest without incident and was lodged in the Logan County Jail. He was issued the felony charge because of a previous domestic violence conviction.
