Deloris Orella Pittard Harshbarger

Sad to announce the passing of Deloris Orella Pittard Harshbarger, 95, of Lakeview, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Gertrude Pittard. She was born on December 24, 1928, in Stone, Ky. She is survived by her children Connie (and Gary) Lattimer, Dennis (and Susan) Harshbarger, Jerry (and JoAnne) Harshbarger, Brenda (and Michael) James, and David Harshbarger. Dee was preceded in death by her son Brian Timothy Harshbarger and her only sibling Eugene Pittard. She has 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Deloris grew up in Kitts Hill, near Ironton, Ohio. Her father had four coal mines there around 1934. Later, by 1941 they had moved to Columbus where they owned a grocery store and rentals. By 1945 they sold everything out and moved to Indian Lake, Ohio and bought Avondale Hotel. In 1947, she graduated from Lakeview High School.  In 1948, her parents sold the hotel and then bought Lakeside Landing, which is now Lakeside Pro Bass. That same year she married Robert Franklin Harshbarger of DeGraff, OH where she became a farmer’s wife and dedicated her life raising six children. In 1975 she took over the Lakeside Pro Bass and it is still in the family to this day. She also enjoyed her home in Tennessee for years. She was an adventurer even in her late age. She loved to travel, drive, roller skate, ice skate, snow ski, and go boating. She loved the “Beast” ride at King’s Island and took all of her grandchildren on it! She also went ziplining at age 90 at Hocking Hills Ohio and loved it! Deloris truly enjoyed and loved her family and friends. She will forever be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, Donations in Deloris’s name would be much appreciated to “The Louise Williams Memorial Fund” which provides fishing equipment for the middle school fishing clubs in Logan, Hardin and Shelby counties; mail checks to Lakeside Pro Bass 11042 State Street, Lakeview Ohio 43331 or “GoFundMe” at Lousie Williams Memorial Fund.

Pastor Jim Ellington will begin funeral services at 3:00 pm, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Visitation is Thursday, June 20th from 4-7 pm at Indian Lake Community Church, 121 N Orchard Island Road, Russells Point, OH with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 6:45 pm, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
