Born on August 8, 1944, in Boone County, WV, Deloris was the daughter of the late Clifford Junior and Lorrain E. Long Sutphin. She was one of 15 children, and though she endured the loss of five siblings, she carried her family’s love and strength with her throughout her life. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Barbara Ann Dunson; a grandson, Josh Hatfield; and a special friend, Sid.

Her infectious smile could light up any space, and her presence made every gathering feel like home.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Deloris leaves behind a legacy of love in her eight children: Lilley Young, Rita Carter, Grace Martin, Clyde Hatfield, Joan Hatfield, Joe Hatfield, Betty Hatfield, and Dillard (Rhonda) Hatfield; 23 grandchildren: Marie Hatfield, Nicky Young, Kenny Young, Kevin Carter, Ashly Carter, Jessie Carter, Damen Rosenburg, Stanley Rosenburg, Isabella Hatfield, Michael Hatfield, Chelsea West, Brandon Hatfield, Dustin Hatfield, Savannah Daniels, Stevie McLaughlin, Jacob McLaughlin, Daniel Davidson, Aaron Davidson, Kenneth Davidson, Montie Bowling, Anela Hatfield, Adilynn Hatfield, and Adrienne Hatfield; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nine siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her.

Deloris was a longtime member of Hope Harbor Baptist Church. She was well-known in the community, having managed the kitchen at Dave’s Good Food in Lakeview and later at the Indian Lake Eagles #3615, where she shared her passion for cooking with many. She had a giving spirit, always taking care of others, whether it was through a warm meal, a listening ear, or a much-needed laugh.
