Defibaugh, Meeker selected as BLHS Seniors of the Month

172

Miah Definbaugh and Joseph Meeker have been selected as Benjamin Logan High School’s March Seniors of the Month.

NAME: Miah Defibaugh
SCHOOL: Benjamin Logan High School
PARENTS: Trinity and Jeremiah Defibaugh
ADDRESS: Rushsylvania

School activities and awards: As I am not at the high school full-time, I have not been able to be as involved this year as I was previously. Currently, I am involved in National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and serve as vice president of the Criminal Justice Society at Clark State College. I was also previously involved in Spanish Club, Spanish Honor Society, Raider Outreach Club, Roots, Student Government, and softball. I have earned an academic letter, been part of the All-Academic Sports Team, received academic excellence in Spanish, and received an excellent rating from the Department of Science.

If I were principal for a day: I would give students a free day to catch up on any work they need to complete.

Favorite school memory: Attending the BPA State Leadership Conference.

People who have inspired me: My parents — no matter the circumstance, they have always made sure I could pursue everything I wanted and had what I needed.

Lately, I have been reading: The Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros.

My advice to parents: Remember that it is your first time living, too. Take chances, go on trips, be involved, make memories and have fun.

My biggest regret: The chances I did not take. While I am proud of what I have accomplished in high school, there are things I missed because of my schedule. I would not change anything, but I would have put myself out there more and taken more chances.

Next year: Working full-time as a dispatcher and furthering my knowledge in law enforcement.

NAME: Joseph Meeker
SCHOOL: Benjamin Logan High School
PARENTS: Stephanie and Aaron Meeker
ADDRESS: Zanesfield

School activities and awards: I am currently involved in swim, track, bowling, soccer, marching band, jazz band, concert band, pep band and National Honor Society. I have earned multiple academic excellence awards in several sports. Previously, I participated in baseball and football.

If I were principal for a day: I would give everyone candy to motivate them for the day.

Favorite school memory: Traveling to Louisville, Ky., with the jazz band to perform at the University of Louisville Jazz Festival.

People who have inspired me: My friends and family.

Lately, I have been reading: Stranger.

My advice to parents: Do not ridicule your children for their grades. If they are trying their best, that is what matters. No one will look back in 20 years and be upset about not getting an A.

My biggest regret: Not joining soccer or track sooner in my athletic career.

Next year: Plans are undecided at this time.
