A Bellefontaine man pleaded guilty Wednesday, March 8, in Logan County Common Pleas Court to distributing inappropriate materials to minors.
Brett Dearwester, 23, pleaded guilty to disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony. An indictment handed up last October by a Logan County grand jury had also charged him with seven counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, felonies of the fifth degree.
The case originated with an investigation from detectives by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, who were able to link a TikTok account to Dearwester through his cellular phone number, email account and screen name.
He will be sentenced April 12.
Others pleading guilty recently in Logan County Common Pleas Court: Christine Huffman, 41, of Bellefontaine: two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, and two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, fifth-degree felonies; and Demitris Thomas, 32, of Columbus, felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to four years’ prison and ordered to pay court costs.
