Dallas Eugene Butler, 84, of DeGraff, Ohio passed away of natural causes Friday August 25, 2023, in his home surrounded by love and family.
Dallas was born March 24, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio. Son of the late William Dallas Butler and Marjorie Ansel. He was preceded in death by his twin sons, William and Robert, sister, Patricia Stotts, and great grandson, Abel.
Dallas is survived by his wife of 24 years, Pamela Butler of DeGraff, a daughter, Carolyn Parsons, son, Timothy (Karen) Butler, daughter, Jonelle (Bill) Lewis, stepdaughter, Mindy Oda, stepson, Brian (Christie) Oda sisters, Mona Roberts and Shirley Belcher, brother, Steve Butler, 17 grandchildren, Anthony Groves, Hollie Groves, Clint Groves, Jamie (Jeff) Perkins, Brooke-Lynn (Caleb) Austin, Jade-Lynn Lewis, Mckenzee Lewis, Brody Lewis, Addisyn Butler, Jessica Rice, Leah Rice, Dylan Oda, Alexis Oda, Connor Oda, Dallas Oda, Nija Oda, and Autumn Oda, 15 great grandchildren, Tanner Perkins, Taylor Holtzberry, Avery Perkins, Carson Groves, Ashton Groves, Lynnsey Henry, Chloe Shoffner, Brenden Shoffner, Carter John Oakley, Collin McKinney, Carlynn McKinney, Colby McKinney, Anthony Oda, Addison Oda, and Asher Oda, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Dallas was enlisted in the United States Army and stationed in Arkansas. He was a proud veteran, where he qualified as a sharpshooter. He loves his family and often spoke about how blessed he was to have “such a wonderful family”. Dallas never knew a stranger, was always quick witted, and loved the art of a good deal. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family and those in need. He drove semi-truck for over 30 years and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking company. He was a member of the million-mile club and loved to travel. In his spare time, he loved hunting (especially his trips out west), fishing, golfing, riding his Harley, antiquing, woodworking, spending time with his family and friends, and baking the best apple pies.
Dallas was an awesome husband, a loving father and grandfather, and an amazing friend. He will be missed by so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions go to his beloved Amvets Post #39.
Dane Driver will begin funeral services at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview. Visitation is Wednesday, August 30th from 4-7 pm, and Thursday from 11am–1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery with military rites performed by the Amvets Post #39 Honor Guard.
