Efforts to restore and expand public transportation options in Logan County are moving forward on multiple fronts, including a new pilot service in the Indian Lake region and broader planning work aimed at reestablishing countywide transit.
Logan County Mobility Manager Tam Blakely has been working with Bridges Community Action Partnership and the Ohio Department of Transportation to meet requirements necessary to bring transit service back to the county. A key part of that process includes gathering community feedback, with residents encouraged to attend upcoming public meetings or complete a brief survey to help shape future transportation options.
Meanwhile, the “Loop at the Lake” transit service began March 5 and will operate on the first and fourth Thursdays of each month, providing transportation access for residents in the Indian Lake area.
Following the route’s initial run, adjustments were made to improve efficiency. Officials said the Northside of the Lake and Lakeview areas will each have one designated pickup and one drop-off location due to the size of the service area.
Local leaders say the pilot program represents an important step toward restoring broader transit access in Logan County while planning efforts continue.
Residents are encouraged to participate in community meetings, complete the survey and utilize the new service as officials evaluate long-term transportation needs.
