Kirkmont Center clean up
As part of the United Way of Logan County’s Community Care Day Friday, Aug. 25, students and staff from the Benjamin Logan Robotics Club worked at clearing out an old building at the Kirkmont Center outside Zanesfield. The structure will either be remodeled or torn down. “This is our second year helping out as a club,” Coach Jason Smith said. “We’re looking for ways to reach out and do some service outside of robotics.” Pictured, Smith’s daughter, eighth-grader Trina Smith, puts posters in a box while other team members gather items for removal. Saving lives through blood donation
Nedra Schultz of Bellefontaine is no stranger to blood drives, so she gladly showed up to donate when the Community Blood Center of Dayton parked their bus in the Bellefontaine Grace Church parking lot Friday. Since the drive was part of the United Way’s Community Care Day, donors were presented with a limited-time voucher to get pizza from Six Hundred Downtown Friday afternoon. Pizza powers hungry volunteers
The United Way of Logan County Community Care Day volunteers and blood donors were given vouchers for pizza from Six Hundred Downtown, along with chips and beverages, which they picked up in the United Way parking lot on Friday afternoon, Aug. 25. Brittany Saxton, owner of Six Hundred, checks the ovens, left, while Daulton Cornell, general manager, makes pizzas to serve the hungry workers. (EXAMINER PHOTO | SHARYN KOPF)
