Benjamin Logan’s Student Government hosted the annual College 101 event Friday, Jan 10, featuring Benjamin Logan High School alumni sharing their college experiences and practical advice with current juniors and seniors.

The program featured discussions on transitioning to college life, maximizing opportunities and practical tips on academic and social integration.

Alumni speakers included Claire Rhodes from Ohio University, Lauren Hemmelgarn from Miami University, Michael Dilbone from Ohio Wesleyan University, Kylie Daniels from the University of Cincinnati, Alana Gibson also from Miami University, Lukas Hemmelgarn from Mercyhurst and Kara Reeves from Ohio Northern University.

They shared insights on everything from the importance of college credit plus (CCP) classes, the benefits of taking on minors, and the realities of campus life including dorm living and the importance of extracurricular activities.

The breakout sessions provided a platform for students to ask questions about workload management with minors, the benefits of large versus small schools, and practical advice on maintaining mental wellness and hygiene standards in a new environment.

Benjamin Logan is committed to preparing its students not just academically but also by providing them with the tools and knowledge to succeed and thrive in their future educational endeavors. This annual event is a testament to that commitment, helping pave the way for our students’ success in college and beyond.
