Clarence E. “Gene” Barger, 85, of Huntsville, OH went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday morning, January 26, 2025, at Buckeye Forest at Belle Springs, Bellefontaine, OH.

Clarence was born on July 29, 1939, in Iron City, OH, a son of the late Clarence Wilber Barger and Mary Pash Barger Codrington. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, John, James, and Charlie, and a sister, Nancy.

Gene married Margaret Henry Barger on April 25, 1981, at First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, and she survives. He is also survived by five children, Andy Barger, Susie Cotterman, Mark Barger, Curtis Barger, and Matthew Barger, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister, Connie Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He worked at Bellefontaine Police Department, A&P Grocery, Westinghouse, and Diamond H Meats, where he retired. Gene was a member of First Lutheran Church. He loved to watch OSU Buckeyes football, read, and listen to 50’s and 60’s music. His family would like to thank the staff of Belle Springs for their loving care and compassion.

Pastor Larry Novak will begin funeral services at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 31, 2025, First Lutheran Church, 208 W. Sandusky Ave, Bellefontaine, with visitation from 12-2 pm. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, OH.
