Recreational facilities in the city came one step closer to getting a $10 million makeover as the Bellefontaine City Council Tuesday, Oct. 8, unanimously passed, on its second reading, an ordinance authorizing the issuance of recreational bonds for that purpose in that amount.

The $10 million will be used to build and improve recreational facilities in the city, including the purchase of new equipment. The ordinance will be up for a third and final vote at the Oct. 22 meeting.

Two ordinances were introduced for a first readings at Tuesday’s meeting. The first will authorize a contract between the City and Stoops Freightliner Lima for purchase of a Freightliner, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation, while the second was an ordnance that will establish the compensation for the president of council, council members, the clerk of council, mayor, law director, auditor and treasurer for 2026.

Prior to introducing the ordinances, Mayor David Crissman issued a proclamation recognizing National Manufacturing Week in the city.

Mayor Crissman asked members to appoint Justin Dinovo to the Planning Commission, which received an unanimous vote in the affirmative from the council.

The Bellefontaine City Council is scheduled to meet again in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.
