For the second time in five days, a Bellefontaine woman was was charged with a driving under the influence after officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department found her unresponsive and slumped over in the driver’s seat of her vehicle Thursday, Nov. 20, on the west side of the city.
Police report that they observed a parked car in the wrong lane of travel in on west Auburn Avenue near Springhill Street at about 12:07 a.m. Thursday, noting that the driver was slumped over in the car with the driver’s side door open.
On investigation, officers found Shanna Kreglow, 44, of Bellefontaine unresponsive in the vehicle, but observed her to breathing on own. Police were able to rouse Kreglow, at which time she appeared drowsy, confused and dazed, and he reportedly fell asleep again as officers were questioning her.
According to the report, Kreglow was then ordered out of the vehicle at which time she failed field sobriety tests and was the placed under arrest. She reportedly again fell asleep several times as she was being arrested and processed at the Bellefontaine Police Department and was unable to follow instructions to complete a chemical breath test.
Given her condition, corrections officers at the Logan County Jail refused to lodge Kreglow and Bellefontaine EMS was contacted to take her to Mary Rutan Hospital for observation, where blood tests were collected from her and sent to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for analysis.
A search of her vehicle revealed empty container of methadone and a vial of naloxone, both of which were taken into evidence.
Kreglow was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, non-compliance of suspension, driving on he wrong side of the roadway and failure to wear a seat belt.
The defendant was arrested on similar charges by deputies of Logan County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 15, as previously reported in the Examiner.
