William L. Levering, 27, of Bellefontaine, was arrested for aggravated menacing following an incident about 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at a Ridgeway area residence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence on a complaint of vandalism and menacing.
The victim and other occupants in the home, which included children, told deputies Levering made threats and drove through the property’s yard in his red Ford Focus causing damage to the yard. He then pulled from the home’s driveway and squealed the vehicle’s tires on the wet roadway before leaving the scene.
Levering had dated the victim and has children with him, according to reports, and was upset that the victim had started dating someone else.
The victim told deputies Levering made several calls and texts starting about 3:40 a.m. threatening to drive his car through the house, shoot her boyfriend, burn down the house and kill everyone. The suspect also threatened to go to the boyfriend’s workplace to cause him issues.
Deputies went to the suspect’s workplace where he reportedly admitted to driving to the residence and making the threats.
Levering was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
An additional charge of vandalism is pending.
