Cindy L. Herndon, 74, of Jackson Center, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in Lima Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on January 29, 1950, the son of the late Charles Joseph and Alice Irene (Pash) Liston. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Liston and a brother, Joe Liston.

On June 14, 1975, she married David R. Herndon in the First Lutheran Church, Bellefontaine, and he survives.

She is also survived by two sons, Benjamin Herndon and Travis Herndon, two granddaughters, Alexa and Adriana Herndon and their mother Aubrey Lynn, a sister, Suzanne (Steve) Morris, a sister-in-law, Barb Liston, numerous nieces and nephews, and several special friends. Special thanks to nephew Scott and his wife Debbie.

Cindy was a 1968 graduate of Indian Lake High School where she made many lifelong friendships….Cinda, Jeff and Rita and so many more. Then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 1972 with her bachelor’s degree.  She later obtained her master’s degree from Wright State University. She taught at Riverside High School, DeGraff, for 38 years, teaching Junior and Senior English and College Prep English. Again, bringing many friendships from students and staff… in particular Sandy, Bonnie, Jeanne, Gae, Sarah Jo, Melanie and countless more. She loved working in her flower beds and gardening, assisted David with the farm operation, was a voracious reader, but most of all, loved spending time with her family…especially her granddaughters, hosting family get-togethers and holiday dinners. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center and had belonged to the Jackson Center Junior American Club.

Pastor Shelly Schultz will officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m on Thursday, June 13, in Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S Main St, Jackson Center, OH 45334. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. also at Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center.  Burial will be at a later date in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
