It was a very successful first day of the Division II regional meet for Bellefontaine’s girls track and field squad Thursday in Piqua.
BHS freshman Kelsie Snapp took regional runner-up honors in the shot put with an effort of 37-4.25.
By finishing in the top four, Snapp has qualified for next week’s state meet at Ohio State University.
The Lady Chiefs are currently fifth in the Division II standings with eight points.
Bellefontaine’s girls also qualified for the today’s finals in numerous events.
Ava Reeves is tied with the top qualifying time (12.27) in the 100 and has the second-fastest time in the 200 (25.44), Kylie Adams has the top qualifying time in the 100 hurdles (15.02) and the top time in the 300 hurdles (44.48), Callie Shumaker has the fourth-fastest time in the 100 hurdles (15.88) and the third-best time in the 300 hurdles (46.98) and the 400 relay team of Parker Penhorwood, Adams, Reeves and Shumaker has the second-fastest time (50.33).
“The girls had a near perfect day,” said BHS head coach Ben Davis. “We had season best in both 300 girls, 200 and shot put.”
For the Chieftain boys on Thursday, Haiden Manns was 12th in the discus (120-10) and Carter Kuhn was 11th in the pole vault (10-6).
Henderson leads Raiders
Isabel Henderson placed seventh in the high jump and advanced to today’s finals in two running events for Benjamin Logan’s girls track and field team Thursday.
Henderson recorded a jump of 5-0 for her seventh-place finish in the high jump.
She was fourth in the 100 dash qualifying in a school-record time of 12.54. The previous best of 12.60 was set by Tracy Todd in 1994.
Henderson also qualified for the finals in the 200 with a time of 25.71, breaking her own school record of 26.06.
Kate Gulick qualified for today’s finals by finishing eighth in the 300 hurdles qualifying (48.35).
Also for the Lady Raiders on Thursday, the 3,200 relay team of Mylee Boysel, Estella Wenger, Lexi Archer and Georgia Bates finished 11th (10:41.55).
Ben Logan’s boys team had two regional placers Thursday.
Trevor Berry set a new PR of 21-0 to finish eighth in the long jump, while Carter Daniels set a PR of 12-6 in the pole vault to also finish eighth.
Yale Scheiderer qualified for today’s regional finals in the 110 hurdles with a time of 12.35.
Richardson powers Lakers
Elayna Richardson qualified for three finals events for Indian Lake’s girls track and field team during Thursday’s opening day of the regional meet.
Richardson advanced to today’s finals in the 400 (1:00.94) and the 200 (25.95) and also qualified for the finals in the 800 relay with Reece Martin, Jalan Martin and Addison Beck (1:48.12).
For the Laker boys team, Brant Parsell qualified to the finals in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.21.
