Chiefs’ Snapp sets shot put record at district track meet

Kelsie Snapp of Bellefontaine set a district meet record in the girls shot put on Thursday.

The first day of the Division II district track and field meet was held Thursday at Piqua.

The second day will be today, with field events starting at 1 p.m. and the track schedule getting under way at 2:30. The top four in each event advance to regionals.

The field includes Ben Logan, Indian Lake, the West Liberty-Salem boys and the Bellefontaine girls.

The Bellefontaine boys were in action at the Division I meet in Troy on Friday.

BELLEFONTAINE 

GIRLS

Junior Kelsie Snapp set a district record in shot put with a winning toss of 41 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

The previous record was set in 2006 by Urbana’s Emily Alderfer at 40 feet, 5 1/2 inches.

In the 4×800 relay, Kaeleigh Flora, Hannah Wilson, Kailynn Newman and Grace Brown finished fifth with a time of 10:23.72.

Individuals advancing to the finals today were Kylie Adams (15.69) and Callie Shumaker (15.88) in the 100 hurdles, Shumaker (45.81) and Adams (47.58) in the 300 hurdles, Shumaker in the 200 dash (27.03), Jillian Ullom in the 400 dash (1:04.18).

Also qualifying for the final was the 4×100 team of Ullom, Adams, Shumaker and Shawna Burnell (51.24).

The 4×800 team of Flora, Hannah Wilson, Newman and Brown took fifth place (10:23.72).

In field events, Rylie Reames was seventh in the high jump (4-8).

In other results Thursday, Brooklyne Kuntz ran in the 100 (14.59) and the 200 (30.46); the 4×200 (Ullom, Ava Layman, Reames, Burnell) was ninth (1:56.19); and the 4×400 (Ullom, Newman, Brown, Flora) was sixth (4:25.51).

BOYS

The Bellefontaine boys finished seventh at Troy with 44 points.

Wayne took first place with 136, followed by Butler (122.33) and Tippecanoe (77.5), Troy and Trotwood-Madison rounded out the top five.

Hayden Maus won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:28.11, and also took fourth in the 3200 (9:47.57), qualifying for regionals in both events.

Caleb Sechrest finished second in the 300 hurdles (39.27), and was also fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.56). 

In field events, Ayden Clary took fourth in the shot put at 45 feet, 8 1/4 inches. 

The Chiefs finished sixth in the 4×200 relay with Caden Snapp, Terrance Hayes, Dillon Jones and Kaiden Foulk (1:32.63), and the 4×400 team of Sechrest, Foulk, Hayes and Jones was also sixth (3:33.41), while the 4×100 team of Snapp, Jeffrey Smith, Jones and Sechrest was eighth (45.63).

Will Myers was 15th in the 1600 (5:00.40). In the 800, Landon Gerwels was 15th (2:08.97) and Brenden Murray was 21st (2:24.68). Oliver Grandstaff was ninth in the 3200 (10:08.19). Jordan Hensley finished 10th in shot put (40-7 1/4).

INDIAN LAKE

For Indian Lake, Ava Faler was second in the girls high jump (5-0) and Terra Beltz was fifth in the shot put (31-5), while Quest Clay took sixth in the boys long jump (19-4 1/2).

Advancing to the finals was Addison Beck in the girls 100 meter dash (13.34), and Gavin Henry in the 110 (15.47) and 300 hurdles (42.63), and the girls 4×200 relay team of Cameron Finfrock, Reagan Rash, Beck and Piper Warnecke (1:54.69).

Jordan Henderson had personal bests in the 110 (19.87) and 300 (46.49) hurdles, and Wyatt Whitsett in the 100 (12.40).

BEN LOGAN

In field events, Grashyn Bailey was sixth in pole vault (11-6), Jaxon Bowman was sixth in discus (142-7) and Gus Bibart took eighth in the discus (137-4).

Running eighth in the 4×800 meter relay were Tyler Shoopman, Owen Jordan, Landon Zehner and Eric Hughes (8:56.76).

Running in track finals will be Dylan Vance in the 200 dash (23.26); Shoopman in the 800 (2:11.16), the 4×100 team of Collin Powell, Wyatt Predmore, Carter Buck and Everett Clapsaddle (45.08) and the 4×200 team of Powell, Davis Matthews, Candin Tucker and Vance (1:33.47).

For the Raiders girls, Autumn Cline qualified for regionals with a fourth-place finish in shot put (33-2 1/2).

Lahna Cook was eighth in that event (29-1).

Running in the finals will be Kate Gulick in the 100 hurdles (16.91); Abby Vance in the 100 dash (13.13); Gulick (49.84) and Ella Chamberlin (51.89) in the 300 hurdles; Vance (27.15) and Scarlett Elliott (28.26) in the 200 dash; the 4×100 relay of Nahla Payne, Ella Stoodt, Aleah France and Storm LeVan) with a time of 53.67; and the 4×200 relay of Chamberlin, Stoodt, Scarlett Elliott and Vance (1:49.80).

West Liberty-Salem

The 4×800 meter relay team of Quentin Rudolph, Asher Cole, Asher Knox and Caleb Larson won the event with a time of 8:07.57 to advance to regionals.

Also advancing is Craig Stanford, who took second in pole vault by clearing 13 feet.

Qualifying for the finals today in track events were

Jackson Steider (14.65, 110) and (39.30, 300); and Taryn Bradley (15.88. 110) and (41.41, 300) in the hurdles; Jack Bahan in the 100 (11.43) and 200 (23.02); Sam Kidd in the 100 (11.54); Troy Bradley in the 200 (23.69) and 400 (51.71); Rudolph (2:07.03) and Brayan Gullett (2:08.16) in the 800; Cole (5:07.75) and Larson (5:09.35) in the 1600.

Also running in the finals are the 4×100 relay (Lincoln Henderson, Bahan, Steider, Kidd) with a time of 43.90; the 4×200 team of Troy Bradley, Bahan, Kidd and Henderson at 1:31.01; and the 4×400 relay of Jake Lauck, Zeke Sidders, Knox, and Troy Bradley in 3:32.30.
